Our History
Jacob Nelson, principal of the company, founded True Engineering Group in 2015 with the concept of providing MEP design engineering services to architects, facility owners, and contractors. We are built on a culture of service. From delivering successful projects, to investing in employee success through training, professional organizations, and growth opportunities, we believe in the impact a commitment to service has on our work and on the strength of our company. We have established a solid foundation of core capabilities developed through managing projects for our clients at every scale. Our expertise and knowledge, combined with our ability to adapt to an ever-changing marketplace, is how we build client trust, separate ourselves from competitors, and assure our projects deliver on the vision successfully and efficiently.

Jacob A. Nelson, PE
PrincipalJacob Nelson is a graduate of Kansas State, holding a degree in architectural engineering (B.S. & M.S.). With 17+ years experience and as the principal engineer, he leads engineering services and specializes in all aspects of MEP systems. Nelson is a licensed Professional Engineer in Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas, and Texas.
Alex Holtermann
Project managerAlex Holtermann is a graduate of Missouri State, holding degrees in facility management (B.S.) and business administration (MBA). He leads building information modeling, construction administration, and commissioning service lines while specializing in electrical systems. Holtermann holds a certificate in Building Information Modeling from AGC.
Jon Kamies, pe
pROJECT EngineerJon Kamies is a graduate of Central Oklahoma, holding a degree in mechanical engineering (B.S.). He performs engineering design for all MEP disciplines while specializing in mechanical systems. Kamies is a Professional Engineer in Missouri.
kelly cook
commissioning agentKelly Cook holds master trade licenses as both a HVAC technician and electrician. With 30+ years of experience, he serves as a resource for the design engineer, contractor, and owner. He performs commissioning services and field observations for quality assurance along with troubleshooting issues.
Connor Nelson, PE
Project EngineerConnor Nelson is a graduate of Arkansas, holding a degree in mechanical engineering (B.S.). He performs engineering design for all MEP disciplines while specializing in plumbing systems and fire protection. Nelson is a Professional Engineer in Arkansas.
Victor perez, EIT
Design EngineerVictor Rivera is a graduate of Arkansas, holding a degree in mechanical engineering (B.S.) and business administration (MBA) from LSU-Shreveport. He performs engineering design for all MEP disciplines. Rivera is a certified Engineer Intern in Missouri.
Brad Brandes
Engineering TechBrad Brandes is a Missouri State University graduate with a degree in Construction Management (B.S.). Brad’s focus in the firm is building information modeling and virtual design in construction. He manages our 3D scanning services for the majority of our projects.

Why the Owl?
True owls are one of two major families of owls. Traditionally, owls are considered wise animals and their highly sensitive hearing and ability to see even in low light allow them to effectively navigate in situations that might be challenging for other creatures. True Engineering Group strives to use their wisdom, listening and observation skills to excel as they help their clients achieve their goals.
